#005 735 U.P.R.R. MULFORD & BIDDLE. Aqua.
Green impurities add a little character to the medium aqua glass. The 735 threadless insulators with “U.P.R.R.” embossing were produced for use on the historic, first transcontinental railroad line in America, completed in 1869. They were placed in service through Wyoming and into Utah, all the way to Promontory, where the rails of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific met.
These historic jewels are typically found with moderate to fairly heavy damage, and are quite difficult to find in excellent condition. One of the better condition examples, having only a shallow base flake (see far right in 1st image), otherwise very near mint. Crisp, bold embossing.
