Description

#597      724       Unmarked.       Bright cobalt blue.

A glass insert type threadless insulator which originally had a wood cover, similar to the "Wade" style insulators.

This design is rarely encountered, with very few examples known, and the color is wonderful!  Darker cobalt streaks can be seen meandering through the glass.

Shallow, one inch base bruise has no glass missing (see slightly darkened area on base at far right in first photo). An opaque impurity in the glass annealed unevenly, creating some interior halos (center of insulator body in first photo).  Hook shaped light areas at base and to the left in first photo are not damage, rather reflections from the curved, reverse base.  Second photo shows the opposite side, which displays mint, having a rounded, under-poured base.

Quite rare, so examples typically only surface for sale once every 10 to 20 years!

Dick Bowman collection.
