#731 742 M.T. Co. Cornflower blue.
The 742 threadless was produced in a wide variety of colours, with different tones of aquamarine being the most prevalent. Other more exotic colors are typically scarce to rare. This particular hue is seldom encountered and is quite desirable.
Produced for the Montreal Telegraph Company which was organized in Montreal in 1847. The company expanded its territory with time, and by 1872 had 20,000 miles of telegraph wire in operation. Lines crisscrossed all areas with mentionable population all through eastern Canada, ranging from Ontario to the eastern Maritime Provinces, and into some northern States of the U.S.
A wonderful example that remains in fabulous, very near mint+ condition. The base is flawless, without as much as a pinhead flake! That's incredible, even on an aqua example, let alone a cornflower blue beauty!
