Base embossed.
Sizable area of the skirt has milky-opaque impurities inside the glass, as well as a streamer through the dome, adding desirable character.
The "E Dupont" marking on the base references Eusebe Dupont, who was involved with a glass factory in St Jean (St Johns) Canada East, circa 1860 to possibly the middle 1860's.
Half pinkie nail, shallow flake removes just the top portion of the "D." Another barely gets into the top portion of the "E." Remainder of insulator is excellent! Very nice condition for this damage prone style!
Plunkett Family Collection. The Plunkett family often visited the Banks brothers (Norm, Gord, Howard and Wally) in Ontario, Canada to hunt insulators in the 1970's and 1980's. The Banks brothers started hunting insulators in the 1950's or early 1960's, and were a lot of fun to be with. What a joy it was to search for glass on old railway lines with these elderly gentlemen, as they were all "characters." This Dupont insulator was purchased by the Plunketts from Howard Banks, who found it in "southwestern" Ontario, Canada.
