A very tall, impressive, pilgrim hat style insulator that measures 4-5/8 inches in height.
Although others may exist, we're only aware of about six examples in collections. These impressive beauties were used on the route of the mainline Erie (original NY&ERR).
Sparkling glass with excellent clarity and richness. Nice bubbles in the glass and wonderful surface creases and ripples.
Aside from one very shallow flake, up from the base (2/3 pinkie nail size), the entire insulator remains in spectacular, very, very near mint condition! Appears unused!!!!! WOW!
Update: 12 noon, Wednesday, December 8. Third photo added depicting the 739 threadless (Lot #2003) and a "Big Blue" threadless (not included in this lot) for the purpose of comparison. Since the start of this auction, it has become apparent that some collectors are confusing the 739 as being a "Big Blue," which is a totally different insulator. The 739 has two wire ridges whereas the Big Blue has only one. As far as rarity, desirability and value, we are aware of only six examples of the 739 in aqua. The number of aqua Big Blues personally encountered are estimated at around 15 or 16. Both are seldom seen and desirable insulators, but the 739 should be recognized as a rarer and more valuable item.
