Description

#2005       CD 127       W.U.T. CO.     CAUVET'S PAT.     W. BROOKFIELD            FEB 22 1870     NO. 55 FULTON ST. N.Y.            Green.

Large embossed cross on dome.

Although this type insulator is readily available in aquamarine colored glass, green examples are few and far between.

Western Union Telegraph Company used this design as their "standard" for a period of time in the 1870's.

Surface appears to have been tumble cleaned.  Small white stone inside the wire ridge (see first photo) has a shallow annealing bruise.  Bruise on the base corner stays just under the glass surface (see second photo).  Remainder of insulator in excellent condition.
