Description

#2965        CD 136.4         2       "Canadian Boston."       Blue.

Upside-down,  inverted numeral "2" embossed on side of dome,  just above the top wire ridge.

A Canadian telegraph insulator dubbed the "Canadian Boston" due to its similarity in design to the embossed Boston Bottle Works insulators.  Produced in Canada, circa late 1870's-1880's.  Found on the routes of various early telegraph lines, including the Canadian Pacific Railway in western Canada.

Not sapphire, not cornflower... rather a distinctive blue colouration of its own.

Has a match head flake on the lower wire ridge, and a shallow half pinkie nail flake on the upper wire ridge.

Especially nice condition for this damage prone design.
