Description

#3020       U-183       PAT  AUG  3 1909        Brown porcelain.

Embossed on the top with very fine lettering.  The date is in reference to Joseph Ranson’s self tying insulator.  This is a rather unusual and complex insulator design which locked the line wire in place.

Ranson resided in Batavia, Ohio.  Several examples of this unique insulator were found decades ago in that state.

Two small flakes as shown in the photo.  Shallow flake on opposite side is the diameter of a pencil eraser.  Remainder of insulator in excellent condition.

Mike & Shirley Johnson collection.
