Description

#485      CD 158.2      BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS.      PATENT APPLIED FOR      Blue aqua.     Four segmented threads.     Embossed on the inner skirt.

The "Boston barrel" has been found in smaller numbers than the CD 158 "Boston signals."  Like the signal type, most units have been found along railroad right of ways.  They have surfaced in various areas, including the states of New York Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia and other states in the East. A small number have been discovered in the West, including South Dakota, Utah and Montana, where they were used on US Government constructed communication lines.

An underpour- open bubble on the inner skirt affects a portion of the work "Patent."  Two side by side nicks on the lower wire ridge are each half pinkie nail size  (left of thread segment in second photo). Small chip on upper wire ridge  (also left of thread segment n second photo) is a touch under pinkie nail size.  Remainder of insulator is very near mint.

Attractive blue toned glass has nice clarity.
