Description

#420      731      TILLOTSON.       Aqua.

Luther Tillotson started a railway and telegraph supply company in New York City known as Tilltoson & Company in the early 1860's.  The name of the company was changed in the mid 1860's to L. G. Tillotson & Company, and remained such until Luther's death in 1885.

The "compromise" style, with concave skirt, was introduced in 1865, and soon became the standard design used by various telegraph companies, including the 731.

Pinkie nail flake-bruise on each side at the base corner.  Match head dome flake.  Sizable bruise in the front left skirt area remains relatively hard to see from most angles.

Nice embossing is quite readable from a distance.

BUY-NOW option was removed once the reserve price was met.
