Description

#679       CD 158        BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS     PATENT APPLIED FOR.       Green tint.

The "Boston Signal" in a rarely encountered color.  Typically found in aqua, this green tinted example is quite attractive and especially desirable for anyone attempting to assemble a sizable group of Bostons.  Contrasts quite well with the blue aqua coloration found in some BBW products.

The hex shaped dome and four segmented threads are unusual features on many of the insulators produced by Boston Bottle Works in the 1870's.  The unique threading technique was patented by Samuel Oakman in 1872.

Perfect embossing on the inner skirt, and the four segmented threads are totally free of the usual chips.  A wooden match head size, shallow flake on the upper wire ridge and a short associated surface scratch.  In other words, it easily grades "very near mint."
