Description

#683       132.2     S. T. PAISLEY   MAKER   BEAVER FALLS, PA.        L.A. CAUVET’S   PAT’D   JULY 25, 1865.       Aqua.

Probably produced by a glass house in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.  Although the CD 132.2 that's marked only with a dome numeral can be obtained without great difficulty, the embossed "S. T. Paisley" units are rarely encountered.  Perhaps less than ten are known to collectors knowledgeable on the subject of "Beaver Falls" insulators.

S.T. Paisley’s association with any glass house is unknown, so the embossed “maker” reference remains a mystery at this time.  He was associated with the communications industry in the Pittsburgh area, but further research needs to be done on his activities.  One of the key pieces to the “Beaver Falls” insulator group.

Two shallow, fingernail flakes up from the base, one which removes the letters "AL."  Fracture up from the base on the reverse skirt, shown with red arrows in the second photo.  Otherwise, excellent condition and with nicely defined embossing on both the front and reverse skirts.

Dick Bowman collection.
