Description

#714      CD 136.4      Unembossed.       Rich blue.       Small inverted "2" on the dome.

Known as the  "Canadian Boston."   The vast majority of fully threaded CD 136.4 have been found in Canada.  However, strange as it might seem, broken examples have also been found on the route of the Atlantic & Great Western Railway (Erie Rwy) which traversed between the mainline Erie at Salamanca, New York, through northwestern Pennsylvania and into southwestern Ohio.  Some have been found on sections of the original transcontinental Canadian Pacific Railway in western Canada, which was completed in 1885.

These jewels likely date from the middle or late 1870's into the middle 1880's.

Most often found in aqua, this beauty is an attractive blue shade!  More blue than most examples!

Wonderful, thick dome glass!  For that matter, the entire insulator has thick, heavy glass!  Very pronounced folds and creases on the glass surface and some attractive bubbles in the skirt.  There's even a partially melted, half inch long piece of glass pressed into the surface of the dome.  The piece of glass had obviously dropped into the mold before the molten glass was poured in.  Upon contact, the glass piece embedded into the dome, with molten glass surrounding it.  A great example in the character department!

Excellent overall condition, especially for this damage prone style!  Typically the wire ridges are chipped.  Not so with this gem!  Grades very near mint+.

A beautiful example in all respects.
