Description

#1656        CD 110.5     NAT. INSULATOR CO.      (Four patent dates on base).      Blue aqua.

The "corkscrew" insulator is quite unusual!  The spiral top was was designed to accept a horseshoe shaped clip, which eliminated the need for a tie wire.

Most examples of this uniquely shaped insulator were recovered along the route of a long distance telephone line constructed by American Telephone & Telegraph Company between New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A beauty that remains very near mint!  Base embossing is fully intact with no flakes or chips.

Stock photo.  Item offered is nearly identical to the example shown.
