Description

#1719      CD 126.3      PATENT DEC 19 1871        A.U.      C       Green aqua.

Produced by the Hemingray Glass Company.  The "A.U." lettering on the skirt represents the American Union Telegraph Company.

At first, we thought this insulator was very near mint.  However, closer inspection revealed what at first glance looked like a shallow annealing line at the top of the pinhole.  Further examination shows this to be a pressure fracture that traverses half way around the very top spiral in the pinhole.  At both ends, it's shallow and stays close to the thread.  In the middle, it appears to penetrate about half way toward the outer dome surface (positioned mostly to the right side and back, so not visible in the photo).
