#2306 CD 158 BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS. PATENT APPLIED FOR. Aqua.
Four segmented threads.
The Boston Bottle Works operated in Somerville, Massachusetts circa 1871-1877. The facility produced various articles of glass, including several different styles of telegraph insulators. Most insulators made at the BBW factory were produced with Samuel Oakman’s patented segmented threads.
The CD 158 "signal" style insulator can be found with both a narrow wire groove, and a wide wire groove, like this variant. The wide groove type is more aesthetically pleasing.
Inner skirt, including all the embossing, is perfect. Overall, a very near mint beauty (half pinkie nail flake in wire groove).
