Description

#2509        CD 267.5        N.E.G.M. CO.        Aqua.

A rather large and very impressive power glass insulator from the Boston area mass transit system.  That's the only location these "straight side cables" are known to have been used.

Very heavy, thick glass that's loaded with microscopic bubbles.  Crude, textured surface creates wonderful character.

Lower portion of the saddle groove is dull from contact with the heavy conductor.  Remainder of insulator is very near mint except for a clean, middle fingernail flake on the side surface, from a piece of embedded metal cooling at a different rate during annealing (see far right in second photo).

Impressive, heavy duty glass!
