Description

#2823       CD 145      I     AM. INSULATOR CO. N.Y.     (three patent dates).     Rich blue.

Very small, precise embossing encircles the entire base.

Wonderful color saturation..... as bright and blue as they get!

This one has some interesting characteristics besides the great color..... the top 1-1/2 inches of the pinhole is completely threadless!  And, there are some attractive squiggly creases on the glass surface of the skirt which add character..

Excellent clarity and richness, which is consistent with glass produced using the raw materials found in the Lyndeborough, New Hampshire area.  Although these raw materials could have been shipped to other glass factory locations, many of the colorful American Insulator Company items are believed to have been produced by the Lyndeborough Glass Company in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire.  The company was incorporated in 1866, and glass was produced at the facility for over 20 years.  Both Samuel Oakman and Charles Foster were associated with the production of glass at various points in the history of the factory.

The base embossed dates are in reference to patents issued to Samuel Oakman.  Oakman was involved with glass production and patenting various glass related inventions starting in the 1860's and continuing into the early 1900's.
