#3110 CD 253 KNOWLES CABLE INSULATOR "PATENTED JUNE 17 1890" Green mix.
A large and impressive power glass insulator produced for use on high voltage electric lines, measuring five inches in height.
An attractive mix of minty green and aqua with some olive amber impurities thrown in.
Note the top portion of the insulator tilts to one side! (see uneven ear height in both photos)
This one apparently came in contact with another insulator at the factory when produced. There's a piece of glass stuck into the side of the insulator (at left in the first photo). No damage there... just some glass depressed into the body! Excess glass and some glass pulled away at the top center of skirt and below the saddle groove on reverse (see second photo). Two very shallow flakes the size of a pinkie nail under each of the ears. One inch stress line at top of threads, likely from when the top was pulled out of kilter at the factory. It only traverses outward about 1/3 the glass thickness.
