#3213 U-1886-A VERBANO (triangle trademark) 5 31 209 Green porcelain.
Height: 5-5/8 inches.
Underglaze marking on very top of dome. Dated May 1931.
A seldom seen transposition style insulator that was found inside a railroad tunnel in Italy.
Very near mint+ condition.

The following, in reference to this type insulator, is taken from an article written by Lis Bergman in the December 2013 issue of Crown Jewels Magazine: "Societa Ceramica Italiana, Stabilmento Verbana also made several porcelain transposition in porcelain. The photo above is a green Verbano embossed with the Verbano logo and 5-31 and #209. This has a notch on the head.
This green insulator was found on the abandoned Rimini - San Marino railway that opened in 1932. Found mostly in tunnels.... "
