#3217 U-1952 Unmarked. White porcelain.
Height: 5-1/4 inches. Top of trunk is squared off and horizontal, making it quite different in appearance than the U-1952-B in Lot #3215 and the un-designated, eared Lot #3216, which both have a rounded top.
A very unusual insulator design found at various locations in France, affectionately nicknamed the "Elephant." These were produced in size variations as well as with and without side "ears."
These oddities have an opening in the end of the "trunk" which leads to the insulator interior, forming a "dry spot" for a drop wire to a building.
Pin has been removed and the insulator remains in very near mint condition.
