Description

 #3218      U-????       ISOLATEUR F.J.     B.T.E.  S.D.G.D.   STE FOY L'ARGENTIERE    / RHONE )         White porcelain.

Height: 6 inches.    Top of trunk is squared off and horizontal.  This is a much larger size than the U-1952 and also has quite different features than the similar size U-1952A.

Note the straight skirt of this unit compared to a U-1952A unit having a skirt which bulges outward at the top and has a differently shaped dome.  The trunk on this unit is straight at the end whereas the U-1952A has a flared end.

These oddities have an opening in the end of the "trunk" which leads to the insulator interior, forming a "dry spot" for a drop wire to a building.

Iron pin is still present and protrudes out form the base approximately 3/4 inch.  About half of the inner skirt is broken away.  Outside area of insulator is totally undamaged and still retains "soot" on the surface.

The only example we've encountered with green underglaze marking.
