#3224 LANGDON & FULLER White porcelain and iron.
Cast iron shell with white porcelain interior tube is marked with raised lettering. Old yellow paint on surface. The iron bracket has holes at the upper and lower ends to facilitate fastening. The porcelain tube insulated the wire.
This item appears as "Fig. 99" in W. Keith Neal's book titled Searching For Railway Telegraph Insulators. Keith describes it as follows: "Fuller & Langdon lead in insulator registered 1881"
This historical, early relic was once part of Keith Neal's collection, later purchased by Marilyn Albers after Keith's passing, and still later became a part of the Jim & Lis Bergman collection after Marilyn passed.
Excellent, aged condition.
