#3264 CD 120 Unmarked. Dark amethyst.
Although unmarked, this particular mold variant is generally classified as an "unembossed CEW" due to the moulding characteristics and overall contours closely match those of the embossed "C.E.W." units. The unmarked examples likely date circa late 1870's to early 1880's.
Some of the amethyst and purple units have been found in the gold mining region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the general vicinity of La Porte, California.
A very attractive characteristic to some of these colorful ponies is a pinhole which ends well below the top of the insulator, resulting in an abundance of dome glass. Such is the case with this beauty, the pinhole stopping at the wire groove level, creating over an inch of eye catching, solid glass in the dome.
Exceptional, shiny, undamaged condition! Has a smaller than rice grain, open bubble at the base edge. A beauty!
