#3269 CD 123 EC&M CO S.F. Vibrant, dark cobalt blue.
"A" mold with 4-1/16" height, which is somewhat short for a cobalt blue example.
Very intense, vibrant cobalt coloration that has purple tinges in the thick areas! There is some variation in the coloring of cobalt blue EC&M's, and this is as intense as any previously encountered.
This flared skirt mould variant with rounded dome has been designated as mold type “A.” Both the flared skirt variants "A" and "F" were placed in service during the early years of EC&M production. The Electrical Construction & Maintenance Company was formed in late 1870, and production of the embossed “A” mold EC&M’s likely commenced shortly thereafter. Cobalt blue examples were used in several different locations, most surfacing in California and Nevada.
Perhaps one or more glass houses producing blue soda bottles during the early 1870's in the San Francisco Bay area might have used the same glass batches to manufacture insulators.
Base bruise and chipping around the base. Broken in two pieces horizontally and glued. The glue seam follows the wire groove in front and skirt on reverse. Looks great and will likely sell well below value of a very near mint example.
VIVID color!
