Description

#3270      CD 123       E.C&M CO S.F.       Aqua with olive amber streaks.

Mold style "D" which is known among EC&M collectors as the "Tin Mold" or "Sheet Metal Mold" variant.

This shortie, that measures only 3-3/4 inches in height, was last offered in Pole Top Discoveries' October, 2008 Catalogue of Scarce, Rare & Colorful Insulators.  It has resided in the same collection ever since.

Attractive, olive amber impurities are streaked through much of the glass in this early Western jewel, making it more desirable to collectors above and beyond the typical plain aqua units.

When the two mold halves became worn at the juncture point of an earlier "C" mold variant, the mold was reworked, which left raised bands at the mould juncture, and the "D" mold variant was born.

That raised area along the mold seam on the insulators strongly resembles the seams found on sheet metal work or tin work, thus the nicknames.

Great condition for an EC&M.  Has only shallow flakes on the inside base edge, where excess glass at the base mold seam was removed.  No chips.

The nicely pronounced olive streaks, well pronounced surface creases & whittle, "tin mold" desirability, short stature and excellent condition make it a special gem!
