Description

#3288        CD 136.4         2       "Canadian Boston."       Blue.

Upside-down,  inverted numeral "2" embossed on side of dome,  just above the top wire ridge.

A Canadian telegraph insulator dubbed the "Canadian Boston" due to its similarity in design to the embossed Boston Bottle Works insulators.  Produced in Canada, circa late 1870's-1880's.

Found on the routes of various early telegraph lines.  The vast majority of fully threaded CD 136.4 have been found in Canada including the Canadian Pacific Railway as far west as the province of British Columbia.  However, broken examples have also been found on the route of the Atlantic & Great Western Railway (Erie Railway) which traversed between the mainline Erie at Salamanca, New York, through northwestern Pennsylvania and into southwestern Ohio.

Bright, sparkling glass with excellent clarity!

A very near mint beauty.  Wire ridges remain in impeccable condition with no chips, flakes or rub marks!
