Description

#3289       CD 143      Unmarked.        Grey amethyst.

Horizontal ridges above the wire groove.  One single ridge spirals downward, right to left, from the wire ridge to the base.

Frederick Withycombe was granted patents for various ridge configurations on insulators during 1899 in both Canada and the US.   These small beehive shaped units are believed to have been produced in Canada.

The colour of this example is less amethyst and more grey than most examples, making it a scarce colour variant for the specialist to acquire.

Some ridge flaking, mostly on the first ridge below the wire groove.  However, it does remain in better than average condition for this damage prone design.
