#3343 CD 123 E.C&M CO S.F. Aqua with opaque, olive streaks.
Height: 4-1/8 inches. Mold style "H."
Attractive, olive impurities are streaked through the entire skirt in this early Western jewel, making it much more desirable to collectors, above and beyond the typical plain aqua units. Most of the streaks have a milky-opaque appearance, rather than transparent streaking.
EC&M’s saw widespread usage throughout the West in the 1870’s, first on telegraph lines, and then on telephone lines as that means of communication became more popular. They have been found as far north as British Columbia, Canada, and southward into Mexico. A few have even surfaced in Hawaii. Most were used in California and Nevada, to a great degree on railroads and lines constructed for mining purposes.
Crude, whittled surface, glass globs in the wire groove and the milky olive streaks make this a special example.
Wonderful condition, with only a shallow, pinkie nail base flake. A beauty!
