Description

#3350          CD 120      C.E.W.       Aqua.

Complete with brass yoke, harness, bracket and a short section of line wire.

California Electrical Works supplied the embossed CD 120 pony style insulator circa late 1870’s to 1880’s, primarily for use on telephone lines. The "yoke & harness" assembly was sometimes applied when the bracket and insulator were mounted to trees. The “swing wire” arrangement allowed for movement of the tree without damaging the insulator. This method also allowed for the line wire to remain straighter when the trees were out of alignment.

Several of the examples retaining original hardware were recovered decades ago on the route of a communication line in the Yosemite (California) area.

This same example was last offered for sale in Pole Top Discoveries' March, 2008 auction.

Glass in very near mint+ condition.  Bracket and hardware remain in excellent, weathered condition.

A great example!
