Description

#3357          CD 123       E.C&M CO. S.F.       Green aqua.

"C" mold variant with four inch height.

The "C" mold has a pronounced beveled dome and button on the front skirt.

The pinhole is off-center, angling to the left in the dome.  The color is not a typical aqua, having some green influences that appear "mint green" (candy mint) with artificial back lighting.

EC&M’s saw widespread usage throughout the West in the 1870’s, first on telegraph lines, and then on telephone lines as that means of communication became more popular. They have been found as far north as British Columbia, Canada, and southward into Mexico. A few have even surfaced in Hawaii. Most were used in California and Nevada, to a great degree on railroads and lines constructed for mining purposes.

Flake-type chips on a fair portion of the base are shallow, so show very little on all sides of the exterior.
