Description

#3360         CD 133.1       HOMER BROOKE'S PAT      D    AUG 14 1883.     Dark blue aqua.

The August 14,1883 date is in reference to a patent issued to Homer Brooke of Jersey City, New Jersey for a press used in the manufacture of glass.  The end result was more uniformly formed interior threads.  Interestingly, Mathew Johnson, of Ellenville, New York received a patent on the same day, also for a glass press used in the manufacture of articles having an interior screw thread.

A small group of insulator types were produced using the 1883 Brooke's threading method.  These examples include the CD 109 and 135 Chicago and other types embossed with either "Brooke's" or "Pat App For" including CD 120, 125 and 133.1.  An attractive and colorful grouping of the above mentioned insulators can be assembled.

A match head size pot-stone in the side dome has some small annealing radiation around it.  Entire outer surface and base are in shiny, very near mint condition.
