Description

#3537         CD 154        Unmarked.       Amethyst.

A Colombian beauty with squatty stature, believed to be from the earlier production period of a glass factory in Colombia which was operated by Solomon Zundel.  The insulators manufactured at the factory were made in hand operated presses, so some of them can be crudely formed.  A wide variety of colorful glass was created at the facility, so an attractive color run of both unembossed and embossed "Zicme" insulators can be assembled.

Of the numerous glass companies that produced the CD 154 around the world, none compare to the wide range of colors made at this Colombian factory.

Note the "stair step" characteristic of the wire ridge at top. The lower half of the ridge is larger in diameter than the upper half, suggesting mis-matched mold components.

The base has a sharp bevel inward and upward.  Thus, from the outside, the drip points appear to be hovering within the glass.

Note how much shorter this unit is, compared to the embossed example in Lot #3538.

Very shallow flake type chip, the size of a fingernail, on the flat portion of the wire groove.  Otherwise, only minor blemishes.
