Description

#3551        CD 162      H.G. CO.     PATENT MAY 2 1893.       PETTICOAT.        Bright peacock blue.

The "PETTICOAT" lettering was originally engraved with a spelling error (PETTICAT).  The "COAT" portion of the embossing has strong (fully embossed) "CAT" lettering intermixed.

The peacock blue signals produced by the Hemingray Glass Company pre-date most or all of the cobalt blue embossed "Hemingray" examples, and generally speaking, they are also much scarcer.

Although used in various ares, most have been recovered in the state of Kansas.

Excellent clarity in the glass!

Entire outer area, base, drip points and inner skirt appear flawless.  There's a match head, coarse spot at the bottom of the threaded pinhole... so we'll grade it very, very near mint.
