#3573 CD 178 CALIFORNIA 303 SANTA ANA. Peachy amethyst.
This design was widely used on power lines, mostly in California. Of the various embossings found on the CD 178, the "California" marked units are among the scarcest.
Varying tones/shades of this type insulator can be found in the amethyst color family, ranging from smoke to a darker amethyst with reddish toning. This one is medium amethyst with some peach toning.
Fingernail bruise on the inner skirt (no glass missing and fairly inconspicuous). Less than half inch annealing stress line at side mold line. Stress line, up from base, traverses to the "L" (see photo).
