Attractive colour which is much scarcer than a typical plain aqua.
Threadless insulator produced for the Montreal Telegraph Company, which was formed in 1847. The company used various types of threadless insulators during the 30+ years the company existed. The 742 design was likely developed during the 1860's and continued to be installed on communication lines into the 1870's.
Displays quite well from most sides. Has a chip that's about 2/3 the size of a 50¢ coin on the skirt (see second photo). Otherwise, some shallow flakes on the skirt, up from the base (as seen in both photos).
