Not to be confused with the smaller, much more readily available Gould battery rest insulators (CD 22.5). This is a rarer, larger type measuring three inches across.
An expert on battery rests, who is very knowledgeable on the quantities of all the known battery rest types, indicates he has only confirmed five examples of this rarity!
One of those five sold recently in Pole Top Discoveries' July, 2023 auction, where it finalized at over four times the opening bid of this example.
A bruise, up from the base of the larger umbrella, traverses about 20% the distance around (see second photo). Shallow chip on base of umbrella. A little roughness on the top edge.
Great character was created at the glass factory with this one. The inner skirt is way off center and the top is wavy.
