Description

#3618       (Logo) M  VS 328      "Mushroom."        White porcelain.

Width: 6-3/4 inches.

The incuse marking on the mushroom skirt is partially legible.  There is a logo that appears as three diamonds, one above the other (similar to the shape of a Christmas tree), with an "M" below.  The "VS 328 " lettering is mostly readable, but a couple of the letters are not positively identified.  These insulators are reported to have been made in Germany.

A two piece insulator used in drop wire applications, and serving as a dry spot.  The bottom threaded piece, which screws into the top mushroom shaped portion, has four openings for receiving wires, as illustrated in the third photo.

The second photo depicts the differences in size and configurations of the three bottom sections (inserts) to the insulators in Lots #3616-#3618.  Lot #3618 is on the right.

The third photo is a copy of illustrations which were in a Parvillee Freres & Cie catalogue.  Note how complex the insulators were configured.  The right drawing is especially interesting, as it shows in great detail how the wires traversed from the pole line, and then into a structure.

Very near mint+ condition.
