Description

#3639        CD 133.2      L.A.C.   PATD JULY 25TH 1865      P&W       Green aqua.

An early threaded insulator with very thick glass and bold embossing.

Believed to have possibly been manufactured in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, circa early 1870's.  The meaning of the "P&W" marking is unknown, but could represent names of individuals who were associated with the glass factory that produced them, or perhaps a supply company that distributed them.  They have been found in numerous locations, indicating the marking likely does not represent a railroad or other end-user, as some collectors have suggested in the past.

Part of the base has a nice swirl pattern, slightly visible at center in photo.

Appears to be in mint condition, but we'll play it safe and call the jewel "SPECTACULAR very, very near mint condition."
