#3644 CD 126 4 W. BROOKFIELD (arc) 45 CLIFF ST. N.Y. Light green.
Known as the "Blob-Top," these early threaded insulators were produced by Brookfield in a wide variety of green shades/tones. As a result of the numerous embossing and color variations, they are quite popular with collectors.
Production of this style started in the 1870's and continued for decades, into the 21st century. The Western Union Telegraph Company used a "Standard" insulator on most of their new line construction and rebuilds of old lines. The design preferred by W.U.T. Co changed every few years, and for a period of time the CD 126 was their preferred model.
This mold variant has larger dome embossing than some. Strength of embossing is quite nice. Enclosed boomerang bubbles in the skirt add character.
