Description

#3648     CD 160.7      AM. INSULATOR CO. N.Y.       (patent dates).     Light green.

Finely detailed, base embossing with additional 1881 and 1883 patent dates. Tall dome with attractive “sno-cone” design.

The ingredients in the glass batches used to make many of the insulators produced for the American Insulator Company likely contained quartz mined near Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, resulting in bright glass with excellent clarity and richness.

Typically found in aquamarine colored glass, this light green hue is seldom encountered.

Most often, there is damage to the sharply protruding wire ridge.  Not the case with this beauty, as the entire outer area of the insulator remains in fabulous condition!  Shallow base chip is just a touch longer than half of a middle fingernail.  Sparkling, shiny surface.
