Description

#3686        CD 1038      CUTTER.     PAT APR. 26 04.      Light-medium aqua.

The color is lighter than most examples of this type insulator.

Embossed in a circular pattern on the top.

This unusual design was patented by Scott C. Cutter of Oswego, Illinois, and was used primarily in wooded areas where the insulators were fastened to trees.

Most of these concave base units appear to have been made at the Brookfield factory in New Jersey.  Although that is likely the case, Hemingray is suspected of having produced some as well.  The lighter aqua glass in this unit, with bright, sparkling characteristics, does have a Hemingray "look" to it.

Glass Cutters have been found at numerous locations in all regions of the US, but typically only in limited numbers. They were used from New York State, through the Midwest, up into South Dakota and as far west as California and the Pacific Northwest.

Shallow bubble on top rib is open.  As for actual damage... this jewel is among the nicest known, remaining in exceptional, unused, very near mint condition!
