Description

#3708-A       CD 145       H.G. CO.      PETTICOAT.        Sapphire blue.

Mold letter "H" on reverse skirt.

A small number of sapphire blue H.G. Co. beehives were found along a railroad right of way in Western Ohio many years ago, as well as other locations.

The Hemingray Glass Company produced several insulator types in various exotic blue shades/tones, some of which are readily available, including the CD 162 signals.  The beehives however, are much scarcer, with only a very limited number found.

A well saturated unit, with nice clarity and depth of color.

Chip on the inner skirt is less than half the size of a penny.  Remainder of insulator grades very near mint with only a couple very shallow match head flakes and shallow, pencil eraser diameter flake above the wire groove.    It's a nice one!

Attractive color.

Update 10:55 A.M. Saturday, January 24.  Second image added, showing the reverse.  Third image added, showing the inner skirt chip at center, which was described previously.  Excellent display from both the front and back, since the inner skirt chip is to the side.  Note also that the inner skirt appears somewhat dark due to the presence of soot on the surface which has not been cleaned off.
