#3718-B CD 161 CALIFORNIA Multi-color.
Produced in Long Beach, California, by a glass factory which operated as the California Glass Insulator Company, and later as the California Glass Works.
Various styles of “California” insulators were made using “multi-colored” glass. The ratio of glass colors varies greatly from item to item, so a sizable collection of differing blends can be assembled.
This signal style gem consists of mostly green glass, with amethyst in the dome, around the pinhole and filtering into the skirt. Additionally, there's an olive amber splotch, seen to the right in the first image, and left dome in the second image.
Open base bubble visible at center of second image is not chipped, rather has rounded edges. Another one on the side base has a little flaking on the ends. Light and dark areas in and around the wire groove and wire ridge is not damage, Rather, it's reflections, shadows and creases formed on the glass surface when manufactured.
Attractive and colorful!
Update 1:40 P.M. Sunday, February 25. There's also an inner skirt chip that's 2/3 the size of a pinkie nail.
