#3754 CD 127 H. BROOKE'S PAT JAN. 25TH 1870. Aqua.
Base embossed.
Thick, heavy glass in this early threaded insulator. Homer Brooke's January 25th, 1870 patent involved a method of forming a threaded pinhole on the interior of an insulator. The process used a two step method, first inserting a smooth plunger to form an interior cavity, and then followed with a second pressing with a threaded mandrel.
The January 25, 1870 date is found on many early Brookfield embossed insulators, indicating much of their production made use of this molding method.
Examples with Brooke base embossing are quite scarce, and seldom appear for sale.
No chips or flakes. A dug item that has a hazy surface and scattered, small surface blemishes (see photo).
