Description

#3764        CD 143       CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.      Aqua.

Vertical and spiraling horizontal ridges.

An unusual and attractive design patented by Frederick Withycombe.  The purpose of the ridges was to absorb the shock from impact by objects and therefore prevent breakage of the insulator.  Apparently, a mold previously used in the production of embossed Canadian Pacific Ry insulators was re-tooled to create the raised ribs.  The Can Pac embossing is still fully legible between the horizontal spiraling ribs on the skirt.

Top horizontal ridge has some shallow coarseness.  Other ridges remain in very nice condition.... much better than most examples.
