Description

#3888      U-1931      Unmarked.        White porcelain.

Height: 4-3/8 inches.

Known as the Sinclair Aitkin type, this insulator from Great Britain is a "Dry Spot" design, made in two pieces (see second image).  The inner portion is threaded at the top end and screws into the larger, outer shell.

Similar to Fig.106 on Page 74 of W.Keith Neal's book titled Searching For Railway Telegraph Insulators.  Neal describes the design as being patented in 1897.

Exceptional, very near mint+ condition.
