Description

#3236       CD 123      E.C&M CO S.F.       Dark aqua.

"A" mold.  Height 4-1/4 inches.

Typically found in cobalt blue glass, the aqua examples of the round dome, flared skirt, "A" mold variant are rarely encountered.  This one is even a darker shade than what is usually encountered.

The pinhole cavity angles to the left, resulting in the pinhole being far off-center in the dome!  Characteristics such as this add a great deal of appeal and desirability to collectors.

The round dome, flared skirt mold variants were placed in service during the earliest years of CD 123 EC&M production.  They date from as far back as 1873 (or earlier), 1874, and possibly into 1875.

Last offered in Pole Top Discoveries' March, 2009 auction.

The sharp-edged base has only two shallow flakes, each approximately the size of a pinkie nail, and a shallow bruise at the base edge (at far right in second photo).  Sparkling, shiny glass... the entire outer area in great condition!!!!!

A great looking, rarely encountered jewel.

Update: 8:30 A.M. Friday, October 6.  Third image added, showing the nice condition base, and red arrow indicating the base bruise described above.
