Description

#3239        CD 126.3       III.        Yellow green.

Oakman threads.

A rarely encountered color in this "American Union" pattern insulator.  Aqua examples are scarce, and yellow green units are very few and far between.  This design is found with either embossed three "bars" (like this unit), or with an 'X,"   Both types are marked on the dome top.

Produced using Samuel Oakman's collapsible plunger.  Oakman patented numerous inventions related to insulators and glassmaking over a period of several decades.  Many of his insulator patents involved methods used in forming threads in glass.

A wide variety of insulator types were produced with "Oakman threads." many made at the Lyndeborough Glass Works in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire.  High quality glass with excellent clarity was manufactured, most often in aquamarine colored glass, but sometimes in exotic green and amber shades/tints.

This beauty, from a collection started many decades ago in Kansas, remains in fabulous, very near mint+ condition!
