Description

#3339       CD 136       W. BROOKFIELD    45 CLIFF ST. N.Y.      B&O.        Green.

Produced by Brookfield for the Baltimore & Ohio Telegraph Company, which operated communication lines over a widespread portion of the US.  Their lines extended from New England, all the way westward to Texas.  Insulators bearing the "B&O" marking were produced by both Brookfield and Hemingray during the 1880's.

This light green example has an olive amber streak which traverses downward from the front dome, into the front skirt, then makes a 90 degree turn and extends most of the way across the rear skirt.

Skirt embossing is sizable and bold.  Dome embossing is nice, with medium strength (stronger embossing than many dome embossed Brookfield insulators).  The "N" is backward.  Numeral "1" on dome.

Scarce, desirable color!  Especially attractive in a backlighted cabinet, where the color and swirl show to nice advantage.

Shallow, flake type chip on reverse base edge (see second photo).  Remainder is very near mint.  The contrasting, light and dark areas on the wire ridges are NOT damage, just reflections inside the glass.
